Polls about Vietnamese voters in California governor race, Phu Nguyen, and Van Tran

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

FYI,

According to an article in Orange County Register, Vietnamese American voters are favoring Meg Whitman over Jerry Brown:
“White non-Hispanic voters favor Whitman 48-40, and Vietnamese Americans favor her 40-34.”

From another article of The Orange County Register newspaper, Phu Nguyen is favoring to take Van Tran’s assembly seat over Allan Mansoor because of strong Vietnamese voters base. Van Tran is still the underdog in the race against Loretta Sanchez because of 17 point advantage of registered Latino voters.

Results of Vietnamese candidates in California primary election 2010

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

There are a lot of news to cover about primary election in 12 states. In California, 80-20 endorsement campaigning for Ted Lieu ( for California Attorney General in Democrat primary) and Tom Campbell (for U.S. Senate in Republican primary) didn’t yield anything.

Therefore, I just summarized on Vietnamese candidates in California.

Van Tran won Republican primary 2010 for the 47th Congressional District. It will be my favor match to see if Loretta Sanchez could keep all Vietnamese voters who was voting for her in the past or newly Vietnamese Democratic voters from campaigning with Phu Nguyen.

47th Congressional District primary election results

http://www.ocvote.com/live/pri2010/results.htm#c-272

Van Tran campaigned for Allan Mansoor who beat Long Pham in Republican primary 2010 for State Assembly District 68. Phu Nguyen won in Democratic primary elections 2010 by beating Joseph DoVinh. It will be interest race because Phu Nguyen will try to get all Vietnamese voters from Republican party in general election while Van Tran will try to ask Vietnamese voters to vote for Allan Mansoor.

Joseph DoVinh against Phu Nguyen in 68th Assemble District of Orange County, California

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

Joseph Dovinh got attention lately because of his support to McCain, friend of Van Tran, name calling, job description, etc… However, Joseph Dovinh was registered as a Democrat and running against Phu Nguyen in the Democratic primary for the rights in November election to replace Van Tran in 68th Assemble District of Orange County, California.

“The Good, The Bad, The Ugly” of Vietnamese candidates in Orange County

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

Just like Clint Eastwood movie, the Republican Primary for Congress in the 47th Congressional District have 3 Vietnamese American candidates. At the moment, Quang Pham is looking like the “good guy” because of inexperience in politic. Tan Nguyen tried again after losing to Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez for in 2006. Because of the incident in 2006 campaign by sending out intimidating letters by his campaign to Latino voters and going on Federal investigations, Tan Nguyen is “ugly guy” to the Democratic party and Latino voters but Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez wishes to choose against him rather than against Quang Pham or Van Tran. Van Tran lately becomes the “bad guy” because of accusing by Quang Pham on cheating to win a California Republican Assembly endorsement and the article of Brian Joseph (the OC Register’s Sacramento reporter) who wrote an article (“How lawmakers turned a perk into profit”) by using Van Tran name instead of other lawmakers in California. You need to wait to find out which candidate that O.C. Register will endorse in November 2010. If you are comparing Van Tran perk with the perk from Congressmen/Congresswomen in the Capitol Hill then it’s a joke. If you are running for political seat then you could not get away from people try to get you down. Hey, it’s the Year of Tiger and the battles will be big. The winner will take it all. It will be not nice this year political world.

2010 Tet Offensive in The Year of the Tiger at Little Saigon/Orange County

Friday, February 19th, 2010

By looking at pictures of the parade of Little Saigon in Orange County from friends and Vietnamese forums, Vietnamese American voters suddenly became important for anyone such as Loretta Sanchez, Van Tran, Quang Pham, Phu Nguyen, Joe Vinh Do, Long Pham, etc.

Loretta Sanchez seat is no longer secure according to one Orange County politcal blog site which is favored Quang Pham. Quang Pham also got endorse from Duncan Hunter congressman.

02/12/10: “Assuming Mr. Pham and Mr. Tran do not brutalize each other too much in the primary, the pundits might finally get their wish: no more Loretta Sanchez.”, from Editorial: Last term for Loretta Sanchez? by The O.C. Register

She could be boot out by Vietnamese American or Republican voters. Loretta Sanchez could not count on Human Rights Bills for Vietnam because those bills will die in Senate after one year if didn’t get to introduce in Senate … unless Democratic party try to helping her by John Kerry and Jim Webb to push … at least one of human rights bills for Vietnam. If it didn’t happen then Loretta Sanchez could be on life support which Barack Obama couldn’t help her much like 2009 Virginia governor race, 2009 New Jersey governor race, or 2010 senator race in Mass.

Loretta Sanchez got a lot of money in this year election but she couldn’t buy voters.

According to one Vietnamese article of BPSOS by Dr. Thang Nguyen, Loretta Sanchez didn’t bring a penny into Vietnamese community in Orange County when comparing with Van Tran or Vietnamese American in USA when comparing with Joseph Cao.

http://machsong.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1787

Van Tran worked hard on introduce big name staffs in his camp last week, fundraising events in new year, and starting show up on campaign trails.

It doesn’t matter if Van Tran or Quang Pham in the Republican primary. However, if they learn how Van Hollen beated Connie Morella in the 8th District of Maryland then they will have big chance .
